Rachel Yaoudam – Legislative Elections 2027

Candidacy for the 2027 Legislative Elections – Mayo-Tsanaga North

From Moscow to Abuja in Nigeria to Paris and in Asia to Pakistan—and back to my homeland Cameroon, my alma mater.
There are childhoods that forge a soul for life.
Mine was built in Moskota, a small village, under the sky and mountains of the Far North of Cameroon, in the Mayo-Tsanaga department where the land is arid but the hearts are immense. I grew up surrounded by a rich culture, living traditions, values, and a difficult reality: a lack of roads, schools that are too far away, young people without a future facing increased unemployment, and women whose voices struggle to be heard.
My DAD gave me my compass. "Never forget where you come from" and "Only school and education will open doors for you," he would tell me. I carried these words with me through Nigeria, Europe, Asia, classrooms, and the corridors of international organizations. I learned, observed, and grew. But no matter where my feet took me, Mayo-Tsanaga never left me.
Because a one-way trip is just an escape. And I haven't left to escape—I've left to come back better equipped and serve my community and especially my country, Cameroon.
It is this spirit that led me to found Sahel Solidaire 24, alongside women, young people, and families who have been weakened by crises. Every action taken, every hand extended, every voice heard has confirmed a deep conviction within me: true development begins with those we have too long left behind.
Today, I want to take this commitment to where decisions are made—to the National Assembly. Not out of personal ambition, but because our department deserves a voice that knows it from the inside, understands its suffering, represents this youth that is far too often excluded from decision-making, and finally shares the wounds and dreams of all our people.
I believe in Mayo-Tsanaga. I believe in its youth, its women, and its ancestors in each of its villages. And I believe that together, we can write a future where no one is left behind. As Frantz Fanon said: "Each generation must, in relative opacity, discover its mission, fulfill it or betray it.« I, Yaoudam, have decided to fulfill my mission to serve my PEOPLE and my COUNTRY.
